Nicholas Pierce
Nicholas Pierce is the driving heartbeat behind Amistad Law. When Nicholas started Amistad Law in 2022, he was already enjoying a successful career as an immigration attorney with an industry leading Denver-based firm. After years of focusing on Asylum and Refugee cases, Nicholas left and established Amistad Law to greatly expand the number of asylees and refugees he could represent. Fully devoted to the safety and security of immigrants in the Denver area, Nicholas built Amistad into a client advocacy powerhouse. For two years, almost always as the SOLE attorney, Nicholas and Amistad Law have represented more than 1,600 individuals in countless immigration proceedings. Additionally, Nicholas has worked tirelessly as a volunteer for numerous organization’s legal clinics, including local offices of HIAS, Catholic Charities, IRC and others. Originally from South Louisiana, Nicholas has represented those in need for his entire career. After finishing undergraduate studies at Louisiana State University, Nicholas attended Loyola New Orleans College of Law. As a law student, Nicholas embodied Loyola’s ethos of service over self. He served as a judicial intern to Judge Laurie White in the Orleans Parish Criminal Court, and sparked his lifelong interest in immigrant rights competing on Loyola’s Jessup Moot Court team. Topping off his service to the community, Nicholas served as a student practitioner in Loyola’s Criminal Defense Clinic. Representing indigent clients helped shape his career, and Nicholas served as a Law Clerk at the 30th JDC in Grant Parrish, Louisiana. After experiencing the inequities and challenges of our criminal justice system first hand, Nicholas passed on lucrative opportunities to serve further as a Public Defender in Monroe, Louisiana. Experienced at handling criminal defense matters ranging from misdemeanors to murders, Nicholas followed his wife to Denver to pursue her medical career. After passing the Colorado Bar, Nicholas went on to serve again as a misdemeanor public defender (in private practice) before making a career change to focus on immigration law and the fight for asylees and refugees. A new father, Nicholas spends as much time as he can with his wife and baby as possible. Nicholas also enjoys showing friends and family around Colorado whenever he can, and attending the many local festivals and events throughout the Denver community.

Scott Hamilton
Scott Hamilton is a skilled legal advocate with a broad range of legal experience helping him press for client’s rights in any setting. Before turning his attention to the fight for immigrant’s safety from oppressive and violent circumstances, Scott served in different roles as a general practitioner, In-House Counsel for a Virginia title company, and as a personal injury attorney. A graduate of Loyola New Orleans College of Law, Scott represented his classmates on the student led Honor Board, later serving as Chief Justice. Additionally, Scott represented the Loyola for two years as a member of the First Amendment Moot Court Team. At the end of his last semester, Scott’s classmates recognized his unending well of fierce support for others around campus, electing him as the student commencement speaker at graduation. Scott’s passion for immigrant communities began when he served as a student practitioner in Loyola’s Children’s Rights Clinic. Partnering with Loyola’s Immigration Clinic, Scott and his clinic partner helped kids secure status as Special Immigrant Juveniles (SIJ) throughout his last year in law school. From his very first SIJ client, Scott has advocated on behalf of those seeking refuge and a better life. Scott knows that every immigrant’s experience echoes every others, whether your family arrived to our shores 200 years ago or 200 days ago. That inspired Scott’s move from a successful personal injury law firm in Texas to Amistad Law in 2024. When he isn’t working hard for our clients, Scott enjoys cooking, getting to know Colorado’s natural splendor and being a dutiful dog-Dad to his pup, “Moose.” He also enjoys collecting law licenses! Already licensed in multiple states, Scott is now pursing a Colorado law license to help make sure Amistad can provide our clients with coordinated local representation when and where local matters might enhance any client’s ability to remain safe from local, national and international challenges to their life and liberty

Morgan Jones
Morgan Jones, our dedicated Office Manager and Administrator, is defined by his multiplicity of skills developed by a career in multiple fields. After graduation from Morehouse College, he began working for a local judge. He was initially brought on to assist in writing the judge’s memoirs but after time, he found his abilities to be more applicable. His time with the judge provided an introduction to the legal field and he became familiar with methods implementing organizational procedures; this was the beginning of his administrative development. In tandem with the judge’s work, he assisted companies going through liquidation by managing their remaining staff, packing and logging inventory, creating SOPs, and assisting in transition plans. After moving to Denver, he worked as an Operations Manager for a brief period of time before working at Amistad Law where he is content with providing assistance to a non-profit that aids vulnerable immigrants.
